How to Get CPR Certified in Georgia or South Carolina

by | Aug 9, 2024

To get CPR and First Aid Certified in Georgia or South Carolina, you need to pick your format (online or in-person), sign up for a CPR class as an individual or book a group CPR class, and attend the class to get CPR and First Aid certified.

Before you sign up for CPR and First Aid, you should make sure you don’t also need to take AED. If so, you should sign up for a CPR, First Aid, and AED class instead. You need AED if you have an AED at your workplace and you are getting training for your job. If you have an AED on-site but wouldn’t be considered an expected user, then you don’t have to have AED training, however it is still helpful. For medical professionals, you also may need BLS training instead of CPR and First Aid. More on BLS training here

How to Get CPR and First Aid Certified

1.

Pick Your Format

If you have a group, we will come to your facility at your convenience. For individuals or groups, we offer in-person and blended online CPR and First Aid options.

2.

Sign Up or Book

Reach out to book a date to host your training or for individuals sign up for an online or in-person course. For online CPR, a skills check in also required.

3.

Attend & Get Certified

Attend the training and get the skills, knowledge, and the certificate you need for your job and to be prepared for emergencies you may face.

Step 1: Pick Your Format (Blended Online or In-Person)

You have two options to choose from: blended online or in-person. Both options have their advantages, but both online blended and in-person fully meet the guidelines and requirements for Georgia and South Carolina set by Bright from the Start, Georgia Department of Community Health, South Carolina Child Care Early Care and Education, South Carolina Department of Public Health.

More on the requirements for Online CPR here, but in short, our blended online training meets the requirements because it is blended, meaning the instruction is online, but there is still a hands-on portion which we call a skills check. Learn more about our skills checks here

All this to assure you that either option is fine, you just have to decide which is best for you. Below are some consideration factors:

Step 2: Sign Up or Book a CPR & First Aid Training

Now that you have decided on your class format, you need to sign up for a class in your desired format or book a class for your group.

Group Training

If you want to book a class at your facility for your group, request a CPR & First Aid class here and let us know what dates work for you. If you are a director or manager who wants to sign up a group for online training, you can either sign them up yourself here or let them choose dates and times that work for them and we can invoice you for the cost. Just have them sign up here.

Individual Training

For individuals, you can sign up for in-person training near you here or sign up for the online portion here. If your coworkers also need this training and you think your director or manager would be interested in hosting a class for the team, tell them to contact us and we can set something up.

Step 3: Attend Your Training & Get Certified

Once you sign up for your training, mark your calendar for your training date, time, and location—then show up 10-15 minutes before that time. We’ll be looking forward to seeing you, but if something comes up, you can always contact us to reschedule for a different time. However, if you don’t tell us 24 hours in advance, there may be a cancellation fee.

Once you arrive for your training, if on-site you will do both parts of the training so you will get your certificate on the same day. However, if you do the online training, you will get a 45 day certificate after the class to give you enough time to do your hands-on skills check. Once you complete your hands-on skills check, you will then get your 2 year certification.
