Fire Safety Training FAQ
Is Fire Safety Training Required for Child and Senior Care Professionals in Georgia?
Yes, Fire Safety training and certification is required for both child care and senior care professionals in Georgia by the Georgia Fire Marshal Office, Bright From the Start, and the Department of Community Health. Read more about the laws and regulations here.
Is Online Fire Safety Training Okay?
Yes, online fire safety is approved by the fire marshal’s office if it is given by a live OCI-Certified Caregiver Instructor. Meaning, it must be given via a video call software like Zoom or Google Meet with a live instructor who is approved by the fire marshal’s office.
However, it is not approved to have at your own pace Fire Safety training that isn’t done with a live instructor. This type of asynchronous training can be tempting since it is often cheaper, but it will not get you the certification the fire marshal requires.
All of our online trainings are done with a live OCI-Certified instructor via Zoom and meets all the same requirements as in person training from the comfort of your home.
What is Fire Safety Training Like?
It is a 2 1/2 to 3 hour course where you will learn how to prevent fire and respond if they do happen both in your facility and in your home. We also teach you ways to educate your students, children, parents, and/or residents on fire safety principles.
All of our trainings are fun and interactive helping participants learn and have fun doing it.
What Does The Fire Safety Certificate Look Like?
These change every few years, but for it to be valid, it must be from a Office of the Commissioner of Insurance and Safety Fire (OCI) certified provider, which we are. We always provide the most up to date certificate for all of our students.
Why Are You So Affordable?
Because we want to eliminate any obstacles to people learning this important material. Many Fire Safety Trainings cost an arm and a leg, but by making our training more affordable, we hope to open the door for more people to learn this. You may be tempted to think affordable means low quality, but we consistently hear feedback like “this is the best class I have ever taken.” Check out our reviews above to see some of these stories.
